Removing the Stumps

Manual removal:
With this option, we will cut and dig out the roots surrounding the stump. Then we cut the stump into several sections to sever its taproot. Once the roots are separated from the stump, we will pull the stump out completely and dispose of it, along with the roots. Manual stump removal is the most labor-intensive choice, but it is also the most gentle option for the environment and safest for those with children or pets. This option is great when you need to remove one or two small to medium-sized stumps.
Chemical removal:
- This stump removal option requires very little labor, but it does take time for the chemicals to work; if you need stumps gone quickly, this choice won’t work. If you are not in a hurry, however, we will drill holes into the stump and fill them with a powder that includes potassium nitrate. This chemical speeds up the rotting process so that in a few weeks we are able to dig out the stump easily. Although this is a simple process, it may not be the right choice for a home with children or pets, as the chemicals are harmful if ingested. It’s a perfect choice for a property that has a lot of stumps, as long as you can keep kids and animals away from the chemicals.
Stump grinding:
- This third choice is very popular. It is less labor intensive than manually digging out the remnants, but doesn’t include the worry of chemical exposure for children and animals. We bring in our stump grinder and get started, allowing the machine to do much of the work. As it works, the grinder will chop and mulch the stump until it is sawdust. Stump grinders can be dangerous tools for DIY tree care, but our experienced staff will handle your project swiftly and safely. Stump grinding is a great choice when there are many stumps to get through.
